A woodpigeon for lunch (March 11, 2008)
Sitting in the kitchen we heard a loud bang just outside the window. On looking out we could see nothing untoward. A little later I went outside and found, on the path outside the kitchen window, a dead woodpigeon. Not only was it very dead, but something had been eating it.
 
We have recently seen a sparrowhawk flying round our seedfeeders, picking off the odd little bird. He must have been very hungry to tackle a woodpigeon.
